Tenant & Workspaces

Tenant

A tenant refers to an organization or a logical grouping of department(s) within an organization. In the context of RPA (Robotic Process Automation), multi-tenancy allows for data and control isolation, enabling more flexible automation deployments. Each tenant is managed by a Tenant Admin, who is assigned while a new user signup to Robot Cloud. There is only one user with the Tenant Admin role per tenant.

Workspaces

A workspace serves as a container for robots and other storage items in Robot Cloud. When you create an account an initial workspace named "Default" is automatically created. Example: Let's consider an example of a company called "ABC Corp." They use Robot Cloud as their RPA platform. In this case, "ABC Corp" is the tenant, representing the entire organization. The Tenant Admin, John Smith, is responsible for managing the tenant. Within the "ABC Corp" tenant, different departments such as Finance, HR, and Sales can be logically grouped as separate workspaces. For instance, the Finance workspace contains robots and other relevant assets specific to the finance department's automation needs. The HR workspace contains automation assets for HR-related processes, and so on. Here is an example of the workspace hierarchy within the "ABC Corp" tenant:

  • Tenant: ABC Corp

    • Workspace: Default (created automatically)

    • Workspace: Finance

    • Workspace: HR

    • Workspace: Sales

By organizing automation assets into different workspaces, "ABC Corp" can maintain separation and control over the various departments' automation processes. Each workspace can have its own set of robots, configurations, and storage items. To create a new workspace or manage existing ones, navigate to the Workspaces section in Robot Cloud and follow the provided instructions.
