Human Tasks

I. Introduction

Overview of Human Tasks

Human Tasks is a feature of Robot Cloud that allows for attended automation, involving human intervention in robotic process automation (RPA) workflows. A robot can assign a task to a human user as part of its process. This function is beneficial for tasks that require human judgment or involvement, such as data validation or decision-making.

Benefits of Using Human Tasks

The main advantage of using Human Tasks is the ability to blend the strengths of both humans and robots in a single workflow. This combination enables automation processes to be more flexible and adaptable.

  • Efficiency: Automate repetitive parts of a process while still benefiting from human input where needed.

  • Accuracy: Use human judgment for complex tasks where it's essential to ensure high-quality results.

  • Flexibility: Design workflows that can handle a range of scenarios, including exceptions and cases that require manual intervention.

  • Collaboration: Enable effective collaboration between human workers and robots, fostering a harmonious digital workforce.

II. Setting Up Human Tasks

Before you can use the Human Tasks feature in Robot Cloud, there are several setup steps to follow:

Prerequisites

To use Human Tasks, ensure that you have the following:

  1. Access to Robot Cloud and Robot Studio

  2. Robot Assistant installed on your local machine

  3. Necessary permissions to create and publish robots and assign tasks in Robot Cloud

Installation and Configuration of Robot Assistant

Robot Assistant is the client application that enables interaction between humans and robots. It runs on your local machine and displays the tasks assigned to you.

To install and configure Robot Assistant:

  1. Download the Robot Assistant installer from the provided link.

  2. Run the installer and follow the on-screen instructions to install Robot Assistant.

  3. After installation, open Robot Assistant and log in using your Robot Cloud credentials.

  4. Once logged in, Robot Assistant will automatically connect to Robot Cloud and register your machine as an available host.

With Robot Assistant installed and configured, you're now ready to start using Human Tasks. You can create robots using Robot Studio, publish them to Robot Cloud, and deploy them to a host. These robots can then assign tasks to users, which will appear in the Robot Assistant application.
