The PDF Viewer window is a powerful tool for viewing PDF documents in RPA activities related to extracting data, working with tables, and more. It can be launched from various activities such as Read PDF Elements, Extract PDF Tables, Append Image to PDF, and Digitally Sign activities. Each activity offers unique functionalities within the PDF Viewer.
The PDF Viewer consists of two main sections: the Document section and the Annotations section.
The Document section displays the content of the PDF document that you provide as input. It allows you to view the entire PDF document and perform various operations based on the activity you are working with.
The Annotations section displays selected content and the name of the annotation for each activity. The data displayed in this section varies depending on the activity you are using.
Functionalities of PDF Viewer in each of the activities are as follows:
In the Read PDF Elements activity, the PDF Viewer helps you extract specific text from the PDF document. To select the desired text, click and drag to form a rectangle around the content in the Document section. This will define the area from which the text will be extracted.
After the selection on the Document section, a New Annotation window pops up with the extracted content from the PDF and space for inputting the name of the newly created annotation.
After inputting the annotation name and clicking the Save button the annotation is saved and is displayed in the Annotations section of the PDF viewer.
The user can view the annotations created even after closing the viewer by reopening the viewer and the Annotation section will contain all the annotations created so far.
In the Append Image to PDF activity, the PDF Viewer assists in determining the position within the PDF document where an image should be appended. To select the specific area, click and drag to form a rectangle in the Document section, indicating the size and position for the image. The selected position and size will be displayed in the Annotations section.
In the Extract PDF Tables activity, the PDF Viewer allows you to extract user-specified tables from the PDF document. To select a specific table, click and drag to form a rectangle around the table content in the Document section. The extracted table content will be displayed in the Annotations section.
In the Digitally Sign PDF activity, the PDF Viewer helps you determine the position within the PDF document where a digital signature should be inserted. Similar to other activities, click and drag to form a rectangle in the Document section, specifying the size and position for the signature.
After selecting the area, the activity prompts you to input a PFX certificate file containing the signature, along with the required password for accessing the signature.
The PDF Viewer offers a user-friendly interface to perform various operations on PDF documents in RPA workflows. It enhances your ability to extract text, work with tables, append images, and digitally sign PDF files with ease .
